The Internet Society is revising its by-laws to provide a comprehensive update and to ensure compliance with applicable laws and statutes.

Phase one of the by-laws review was to make changes demanded by the laws of the location of the Society's incorporation. The Amended and Restated By-Laws accepted by the Board of Trustees at their meeting on 31 July 2011 represents the results of the first phase of this effort.

Phase two of the by-laws review centers on updates to the Membership sections and the recognition of the role of Chapters. To assist in the further discussion of the suggested changes, you can find the relevant materials on this page. These documents include a revised draft of the By-Laws, a redline comparison of the current By-Laws and proposed By-Laws, a FAQ, and a copy of the explanatory letter sent to the community.

We really value your input and would like to hear from you. The process we indend to follow is on the following time line.
